Last week’s meeting started at 6:31 pm with a princess in attendance; Therese Rockwell’s guest from Israel, Sheila Altman. The secretary’s report was amended during the business session by Jim Wolff who requested that the following line be added to it. "Jim Wolff led the table topics session." John Sessions drew the attention of fellow members to the article written by Elizabeth Cook in the Dallas Business Journal. As it turns out Elizabeth will have a guest column in the journal every month.
The toastmaster for last week’s session was Tony Brucks Jr. and the theme was gardening. Tony had a lot to share about his experiences as a gardener especially his witty words of wisdom – "some plants thrive in neglect while others die even though they are mollycoddled". Joanie gave a moving inspiration drawn from her personal experiences with her daughter Emily. John Checki motivated us in his inimitable style and Rosa led a round of fun and exciting table topics.
TingTing Li began her innings as a toastmaster with a fantastic icebreaker followed by the exuberant Eric Dyson and the "KIVAman" Jagadeesh Krishnan. The General Evaluator was Neetu and individual evaluators were Angelo, Sherry and Danni.
The awards were won by Ben Vincent for table topics, TingTing for best speaker and Danni for best evaluator. Neetu took home the coveted "toastmaster of the evening" ribbon.
Debbie Allen, our area governor was in attendance.
There was no unfinished business and the meeting ended at 8:20 pm.
