Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) ...

Last November, if you remember, I gave a prepared speech ( http://bigdtalk.com/2006/11/27/an-amazing-light-bulb-.aspx  on the beauty and economy of the CFL bulb and started the speech by saying, "Sitting humbly on shelves in stores everywhere is a product, priced at less than $3, that will change the world ... soon!" I had said it would be about 12-18 months and we would see major changes in this area.

Just five months after that speech, the cover story of TIME magazine (TIME April 9, 2007) touts fifty-one things we can do to slow global warming and the CFL bulb is #3! The lead sentence says, "The hottest thing in household energy savings is the compact fluorescent light bulb, a funny-looking swirl that fits into standard sockets."

I find it interesting that time after time our members have astonishingly prescient views on a wide range of subjects. Just one more reason for those of you who regularly visit this site to take the next step by visiting one of our Thursday evening meetings. I guarantee three things; 1) You will learn something that you didn't know previously, 2) you will be greeted warmly and made to feel welcome immediately, and, 3) you will leave with the conviction that the Big D! Toastmaster Club is THE PLACE where you want to hone your speaking skills.
