New Member, Elizabeth Cook, and husband (sorry, didn't catch first name ...)

Elizabeth just gave her Ice-Breaker at last week's meeting and told me that she was grateful to "have that out of my way!" It was wonderful ... Welcome, welcome, welcome, Elizabeth.

This being my first Christmas party, I was pleasantly surprised to see so many people turn out for it. I met former members ... spouses of Big D visitors and guests ... and a lot of the regular faces!

We started off with some delicious bread and then quickly moved onto a tasty Caesar salad. Garlic bread was then brought in along with platters of lemon chicken (mmmmm ...). On the heels of that gourmet delight we were served platters and platters of penne pasta with Italian sausage that had a real kick to it. It was so good, John Sessions (who was sitting with the vegetarians) came over to my table and confiscated part of our platter. How dare he?

Washed down with coffee, tea, water, and other drinks "from the well" ... desert was served; Tiramisu ... here's what the dictionary says about that.

-noun
an Italian dessert with coffee and liquor-soaked layers of sponge cake alternating with mascarpone cheese and chocolate.

[Origin: < It tiramisù, fr. tira + mi + pick me up]

Did you catch that? John Sessions warned me ahead of time that this would be a "Methodist" Tiramisu and not your typical "Baptist" Tiramisu. I found out exactly what he meant by that.

Did I mention, no one went home hungry?
